If you have any inclination toward femslash of any kind, or need amusement or well-written fic, I heartily urge you to go over to femslash10 and scan through for your fandoms. There are hardly any comments to be had anywhere, and that's a damn shame. I'm listing some of my favorites here, but keep in mind that I'm woefully behind on so many shows… I'd be reading the LotS and Leverage, if I weren't likely to get spoiled, and Dr. Who, if I knew who any of these characters were.

If you read one Femslash 2010, make it this one. This is post series Dollhouse, following Priya, Anthony, and Echo in the Dollhouse. The writing style is really what sets the fic apart, as well as the way the author has grasped the characters so strongly. Priya/Anthony but also Priya/Echo

All Cracked Up to Be-- furies on LJ
An intense Buffy/Faith story toward the end of S7. Well-written, and you can feel the weight of the world on these characters. This is also NC17, but artfully done. I'm not always comfortable with sex in femslash (even though I'm queer), but this was very much a part of the story and not voyeuristic.

Even Dykes Like Dick's-- viciouswishes on LJ
I'm not really even a fan of Grey's Anatomy, and I'm a vegetarian to boot, but this story about Cristina and Meredith going for a burger after a 12 hour shift hits the spot. *drum-crash* I would watch the show intentionally (instead of just leaving it on to break the silence) if it were about the adventures of these two dating doctors. It's a bit short, but it's just really freaken well-written.

Still Flying True-- livfic on DW
Zoe/River, post Serenity Firefly. The 'old west' tone of prose is hard to capture from Firefly, but I think they did a good job of it, and one that cracks me up when it gets to Mal's dialogue. I have to admit, they sold me on this pairing.

Five+ Ways Being Transgender in Fandom Really Sucks, and Why I Stick With It Anyway

Somewhat in response to this post about how the media is skeeving by on giving us subtext while denying us real gay representation.

I'm glad to see trans fans speaking up, especially on the 'genderswap' thing, because it is rather disturbing to read some of them, wherein the character flip immediately OOC as though stereotypically girlie traits should be hardwired into our XX DNA, thus, if magically our parts are switched, then our brains and spirits change as well, down to our own gender identity.

And that's just… terrible. Many of us know the difference between sex and gender, or at least realize that it's a little more complex than a line up of sex = gender = sexuality. Read the article. It explains why I hit the back button when I'm reading a sexswap and Clark, who has just become physically a girl, decides to think of himself as "she" almost automatically.
