Lex frowned as his eleven-year-old darted past him in an almost ‘super’ burst of speed toward his room.

“How was your day!” Lex called over his shoulder. Lily threw her arms around his hips in a big hug. Her sister Lara dropped down onto the ground to pry her shoes off.

“Fine!” Kon yelled back. He slammed the door behind him.

“What happened to my sweet baby boy?” Lex sighed to himself. Music started to play from Kon’s room.

Lara looked up at him and held her hands up with a big shrug.

Lex chuckled. “You don’t know?”

“I know!” Lily declared. “He’s a boy!”

Lara’s eyes widened and she nodded enthusiastically.

“I’m a boy!” Lex complained.

Lily thought about that with a frown. “But you’ve had babies. That makes you part girl, and that makes you better.”

“What?” Lex laughed and licked Lily up. “Where did you hear that?”

“You told us you had us. I’ve seen pictures!” she replied.

“You looked like this!” Lara held her arms in a circles in front of her and puffed her cheeks out.

“I sure did. C’mon. Who wants a snack?”

“Me!” Both girls yelled in unison.

Lex took his girls to the kitchen, unfazed by their ‘boys have cooties’ phase and Kon’s recent distance from the twins, now that he was in his first year at Aletheia Preparatory Academy and they were still in elementary. After setting both girls on the kitchen counter where they swung their legs and giggled to each other, Lex sliced an apple and some cheese for them to share.

“Thank you, daddy!” they said.

His cell rang, and Lex rubbed his hand over Lily’s soft hair as he looked at the display screen. It was the principal of Kon’s school. “Principal Saunders? This is Lex Luthor.”

“Yes, Mr. Luthor. I hope you and your family are doing well?”

“Well enough. What can I do for you?”

“Actually, I... You’re aware of the upcoming talent show, yes?”

Lex frowned and gave both of the twins a kiss on the forehead then headed into the other room.

“I hadn’t heard.”

“Oh. Oh, well. Your son is signed up for the show.”

Lex leaned back against the wall and crossed his right arm over his chest. “He is?”

“Hm. I assumed you knew. That’s why I’m calling. There’s a... problem, with his act.”

When Clark came home, he sighed. He could hear the music playing from Kon’s room. He’d been playing that song nonstop for days, and despite Chloe’s insistence that the artist was “revolutionary,” Clark didn’t really see it. And he wasn’t particularly thrilled with the notion that his son was listening to a singer for whom “fully clothed” was pretty much underwear.

He took off his glasses and suit jacket, looking around for Lex, who had been working from home that day, and the twins, who he didn’t think had any activities that afternoon.

“Lex?” Clark called. The music stopped.

“We’re in Kon’s room!” Lex called back.

Clark raised a brow, but set his briefcase and suit jacket aside and headed for their firstborn’s room as he loosened his tie. He stopped as he saw the rest of his family in the middle of Kon’s room. Lex was wearing his yoga pants and a tank top, the girls were dressed for soccer, and Kon...

Kon was in a pair of red briefs and very high heels.

Heels!

Clark blinked at the sight before him in disbelief. “What’s going on?”

“The principal called. Apparently Kon is going to be dancing in the school talent show. She’s not particularly thrilled with his choice, but I assured her that if there were no lewd gestures and he was using the censored version of the song, there was no reason he should be kept from performing.”

“Dad’s helping me practice,” Kon said with his characteristic goodnatured grin. That was good to see, after their boy had been so preoccupied lately. “He said that we could make costumes! There are some kids in my class who could join. It would be great, Pop! This is my favorite song!”

“Well. Costumes are better than your underwear,” Clark murmured.

“You wear your underwear for everyone to see,” Kon pointed out indignantly.

“Pay no attention to your father’s dress sense or lack thereof. We’ll get you something appropriate and fabulous,” Lex promised.

“Wanna see?” Kon asked.

Clark looked to Lex, who seemed amused, and to their children, who were too eager to deny, then nodded and pulled up Kon’s desk chair to watch them. Kon pulled on what looked like a blanket or a sack and curled up in the middle of the room facing down.

“C’mon,” he hissed at the twins. They ran over beside him and curled up in fetal position on the floor.

Lex’s lips twitched, and he started the music. At first none of them moved, but slowly the girls started to come out of their poses, as if coming to life. Their fingers were curled over and they stretched and twitched. A few moments later, Kon had started to come to life too, and the twins writhed around, making monster claws with their arms and snapping them in time with the music.

It was probably the cutest thing Clark had ever seen. His little monsters.

When the first chorus started, Kon started to sing along, his arms moved out to his sides, then to his lips, then up, and then down and to his lips again. The girls tried to follow along as he thrust his left leg out, then his right, and then lunged his head forward, pulled it back, and moved both hands in front of him in a stopping motion while he danced his hips from side to side. Clark was amazed that Kon could do all that in the heels.

The twins ripped Kon’s blanket off of him, and Clark raised his brows, suspecting that Principal Saunders didn’t like stripping in the show. Then his mouth tightened at the crotch grab, the gun motions, and what looked like a jerking off gesture. He glanced at Lex, who just seemed tickled pink by his son’s dancing, which Clark had to admit was fairly well practiced and crisp already. But some of these moves were just not okay! Clark’s face was getting red just watching them, and he wanted to grab the blanket to cover up his son.

As Kon started to crawl forward on the floor, Clark put his hand over his mouth and then reached over to turn off the music.

“Awww!” the twins complained.

“Did I do it bad?” Kon asked. He sat on the floor, breathing deeply.

“No, it’s not bad. I think Clark is just thinking about what you can do to improve your routine,” Lex suggested.

Kon’s lips pushed forward into a disappointed out. “I like the routine. I got it from the video. There’s this part where she’s surrounded by crystals, and I thought, like, maybe a strobe could be on me since I don’t think I can get floaty crystals.”

“Kon, do you even know what this song is about?” Clark said. He leaned forward on his knees with concern.

“Yeah!” Kon twisted his fingers together and smiled brightly. “It’s about being in love with your best friend. ‘I want your love, and I want your revenge. I want your love; I don’t wanna be friends.’ And it’s about loving that person so much, even if they have ugly parts to them or flaws or if they’re a little crazy or obsessive sometimes. He’s your best friend, and you’ve seen all of him because you’re so close, and you want it anyway, even if you’re not sure it’ll be a good thing. You’re in love, and you want love back.”

Clark blinked. “That’s what that song is about? What’s with the monster arms?”

“They’re adorable,” Lex insisted. “I think what we want to do is just alter some of the moves. Once you have a full costume, it’ll look much better, but the parents just aren’t going to be comfortable with you grabbing yourself. I don’t think you want to do it exactly like her anyway, Kon. This is your performance. We should help you make it your own. Give it a sense of style.”

Kon’s pout deepened. “Can I at least keep the heels? Mr. Davenport said I wasn’t allowed to wear heels. But you can’t do Lady GaGa without heels!”

Lex chuckled then got on the floor to look at Kon’s shoes. “You can wear heels. I just want to redesign them to have a wider base. Maybe as boots.” He looked up at his son. “So you don’t fall when you’re dancing and to protect your ankles. I’ll have a meeting with Mr. Davenport.”

Kon lit up again and grinned widely. He threw his arms around Lex, who rubbed his back.

“You dance really well already, Kon. I’m proud of you for doing this much on your own. But you know, Lady GaGa has a lot of help with her costumes, too. It takes a lot to create a dance production.”

“Can we practice some more?” Lily pleaded. “At least until dinner?”

Lara nodded.

“I don’t see why not.” Clark got up and sighed. “Do we get to come to this?”

“Yeah. I was gonna bring you tickets when they printed them.” Kon pushed himself up. “Are you sure they’ll let me do it?”

“Clark and I will make sure that you can,” Lex said firmly. He looked to Clark.

Clark hesitated for a moment, then nodded and shot Kon a smile. “Don’t worry about it. We’ll take care of everything.”

“Yay!” Lily started to do her monster dance again, and Lara followed her, chasing her with monster arms around the room.

Lex lead Clark out of the bedroom as the music started again, and he looked up at Clark with fondness.

“What?” Clark touched Lex’s cheek gently and looked down at him.

Lex moved in closer, closer.

“J’ai ton amour,” he whispered into Clark’s ear. “Je veux ton revenge. J’ai ton amour. I don’t wanna be friends.”

“We had a Bad Romance, didn’t we?”

“Oh yes. We did.”

“It was... something else.”

“At least ours didn’t end in fire.”

“No, it just ended in three kids. And a house, and a home. And a kitty cat that’s snoozing somewhere around here.”

“Yes.” Lex leaned into Clark’s body and kissed him deeply.

Clark felt his shoulders relaxing as he and Lex leisurely made out beside their child’s room. Lex’s hands moved around Clark’s waist, then up his back, and he purred softly in that sexy way he did when he was in the mood. Clark wondered if they would have time before preparing dinner for a little...

Lex pulled back and looked over his shoulder, no doubt checking for the kids.

Clark grinned. “Cute little monsters, aren’t they?”

“Just... too cute for my own good,” Lex admitted.

“I can’t wait to see Kon perform.” Clark bent over and nibbled on Lex’s neck before lifting him up and carrying him toward the bedroom. “After some work on that routine...”

“Don’t worry about that, Clark. I wasn’t going to tell him no outright, but I think with a little finesse, we can make sure he can express himself without being completely humiliated,” Lex assured him. As Clark tossed him on their bed and shut the door behind him, Lex hooked his thumbs along the waist of his yoga pants and slowly slid them down his hips. “I’m getting this on video when he does, by the way.”

Clark climbed over Lex with a big grin. “Oh, of course! How will we show it to his Bad Romance if we don’t have it recorded?”
