Communities that you may or may not know about and love. Feel free to squee about a comm that I've posted that you like, or add to the list, so I know where else to go. Don't feel free to snark about my commitment to sparkle motion Dreamwidth.
DW comms that I have created:
clex Not done much on it yet. Need additional mods!
clexmas At this point, I'll be synching it up with what we do at LJ and see where it goes.
mpreg Well. Obviously.
I can start a Brex comm, as well, and I was wondering how much Chloe fen were interested in having something over there. I think, though, that I'm might want to do a Birds of Prey comm… in hopes that people will come and be fannish with me.
Comms that I follow:
scans_daily There are about a billion posts a day from this community, but some of them are rather funny and interesting. Scans_daily and Noscans_daily are pretty awesome communities in general, but Scans_daily is only available on DW, and the latter only available on LJ.
agony_aunt Just darn amusing. The premise is to take various advice column entries and discuss the quality/appropriateness of the response, or lack thereof.
dc_fandom Name kind of explains it.
geekfeminism_feed Again, the name explains. A feed for entries wrt feminist geeks or issues that affect girlgeeks.
omnomnom Community to talk about food/share and discuss recipes.
bechdel_text Community that discusses how movies/books do or don't pass.
Two larger communities that are actually well developed (aka, lazy fans don't have to put in effort) are the communities for femslash and addressing dis/div/ability. You may notice that many awesome metaposts come from DW. This is why.
cookability Cookability is a community for sharing recipes, tips and practical discussion geared toward aiding people with limited ability or limited energy to create satisfying, tasty dishes while preserving our "spoons."
fucking_meds Although I've never posted here, I can't properly articulate the awesomeness of Fucking Meds. If you've ever taken medication, you know the frustration of it working, not working, or kinda working but giving you nasty side effects, but when you need to take your medication or have much worse symptoms, it can be really frustrating. So you're caught between one type of pain and another type of pain. This comm gives a lot of information about side effects that individuals have had, so you know you aren't alone.
disabledfeminists_feed This is obviously a feed for the Feminist with Disabilities blog, easily accessible from your DW account! (There is one for LJ, too, though.)
girlgay For posting of various fic.
femslash_today_feed
There are also, of course, various challenges wrt femslash throughout the year, such as
ladiesbigbang and
femslash10, and kink memes and drabbles.
This is the most productive thing I've done today, unless you count redoing my layout in the wee hours of the morning. Off to clean/work.
