Amazon isn't really about improving their products at all. Rather, they want to find the best ways to bilk the most out of their customers and employees without totally running off their business. This is easier now that they've made themselves the go-to place for online shopping.
I mean, they say it's because of rising shipping costs, but it seems to me that the demand for orders has increased and they've failed to keep up with it by hiring enough people to get the products out on time without grossly mistreating their employees. So, without promising any better treatment, they're raising prices... and I think it's unlikely that employees will see any benefit.
I've been trying to wean myself off of Amazon and order books and gifts from other places.
They aren't even the cheapest anymore, nor do they have "everything." I've found myself shopping elsewhere because they haven't had what I wanted. Interesting that now I'll get to pay more for it (I like the Prime Video).
